Jesuit ideal I most identify with: Cura Personalis and Magis. Caring for the person in front of me in much larger and deeper ways than would be expected.
Reasons why you enjoy working at Gonzaga: The Housing and Residence Life area of our function is active, complex, vibrant and always challenging. There is never a dull moment in a work day, nor a boring day. One can be challenged in the morning with a crisis of a flood in a building, and in the afternoon with a variety of budget tasks and strategy meetings, and the next day crafting up projections of revenue and proposing new rates, and later in that day a difficult conversation with a student not enjoying their residential experience. There is no monotony that descends upon our area of function. It's always interesting and always challenging.
What I enjoy about Spokane and the Northwest: Spokane feels like a large city, behaving like a medium sized town, making it easier to feel like a member. Surrounded by a forested area of Washington, it is easy to get away from city life on a bike, boat or skis and feel renewed and connected to nature. Spokane is rich in the arts, and in a deep variety in places of worship. I have deep and experienced appreciation for the Spokane District 81 K-12 educational system while raising my own children - a very solid and well-resourced school district!
Ways I have been able to get involved on-campus: I participate in mentoring programs for students and take the opportunity to journey with students who seek out mentoring - along their educational path and early years away from home.
Hobbies and Interests: Alpine skiing during snowstorms mid-week when very, very few people go. Mother nature grooms the slope while you are riding the lift so it always feels like freshly groomed terrain, unlike sunny weather and crowds on weekends. Off road, mountain bike riding in summer season. Late night movies at local theaters.

Reasons I enjoy working at Gonzaga University: Gonzaga’s focus on its mission of helping students develop intellectually, spiritually, culturally, physically, and emotionally is real. I’ve never worked at an institution so focused on benefitting the mind, body, and spirit of its students to the degree that we do at Gonzaga. These are lofty goals, but I sense that everyone truly cares about the work, which is life-giving to me as a professional.
What I enjoy about Spokane and the Northwest: Nature surrounds us! Spokane speaks to me.
Ways I have been able to get involved on-campus: There's no shortage of people who want to engage with Housing and Residence Life. We're sought for our knowledge of students, for our connection with residents, and our abundant energy. My opportunities come from being a student advocate. People want that perspective at the table, which is refreshing to see.
Hobbies and Interests: I am a scuba diver; I've gone sky diving and paragliding; I enjoy traveling, and I am enjoying the fact that I am no longer in a PhD program. Just saying…

Jesuit ideal I most identify with: The Jesuit ideal I most identify with is unity of head and mind. We're often taught that our hearts and minds are divided and cannot possibly collaborate ("use your head, not your heart" and vice versa). It is when our heart and mind work together that we reach our full potential.
Reasons I enjoy working at Gonzaga University:I enjoy working at Gonzaga because it is a mission-driven institution, focused on the development of the whole person. Not only do students gain expertise in their field of study, but they also develop a strong sense of character and community.
What I enjoy about Spokane and the Northwest: Originally from New York, I enjoy the ease of access to the great outdoors that I have not had before, and that I can go from walking along a river to a downtown center in under 30 minutes.
Hobbies and Interests: I really enjoy being outside, whether it is hiking, biking, or water sports. I also enjoy rainy day activities like baking, reading, and board games. Most importantly, I spend lots of time with my dog, Maggie.

Jesuit ideal I most identify with: Magis - a mentor I looked up to in college once told me that Magis was all about "not doing more, but being more," and that has always stuck with me. In my own life, I like to think about how I strive to be more intentional, more relational, more reflective, and more aware. This idea of Magis has informed how I've lived post-college, and keeps me grounded. I love when I can accompany students in their own understanding of Magis and what it can grow to mean for them.
Reasons I enjoy working at Gonzaga University: I'm a product of Jesuit education, and so my goal was to always get back to that. I think being able to work somewhere where the mission is truly lived out and people are so much more than a number has always been important to me. I think Gonzaga attracts truly remarkable students that are passionate and engaged, and I feel grateful to have ended up here.
What I enjoy about Spokane and the Northwest: After being in Southern California for four years, I was so ready to get back to the Northwest. Moving to Spokane somewhat felt like coming home because I'm from the Portland, OR area - I love the fact that Spokane has four seasons, and that we have an incredible outdoor playground, but that Spokane has a bit of a city feel when I need it.
Ways I have been able to get involved on-campus: In my time here, I’ve had the opportunity to lead a small faith group for women through Mission and Ministry, and I’ve also loved being able to collaborate with our health and well-being offices, Center for Cura Personalis, and Office for Health Promotion.
Hobbies and Interests: I love hanging out with my puppy, Sawyer, going on outdoor adventures – paddle boarding, hikes, weekend trips to Montana the Cascades, and Seattle – enjoying local coffee shops, getting to know people and having deep life conversations, and cooking and baking.

Hobbies and Interests: Sports! I love watching and playing all sports but get the most enjoyment out of weightlifting, basketball, and football. My wife and I love staying active so trail running and biking, hiking outdoors, and skiing and snowboarding are always a great time for us!

Jesuit ideal I most identify with: Men and Women for and with Others.
Reasons I enjoy working at Gonzaga University: The ability to build relationships with students within my role and outside of my role. I particularly enjoy this aspect of working at Gonzaga because it allows me to promote well-being and wholistic development.
What I enjoy about Spokane and the Northwest: The four seasons and the connection with nature. You everything you need downtown or near downtown and then in 30 minutes you can be at the base of a trail head feeling like you’re truly in the woods
Ways I have been able to get involved on-campus: The highlight of my involvement on campus has been through co-supervising an immersion trip with the Center for Community Engagement. The trip is called Mission Possible and over spring break 2020 I went with twelve other Gonzaga students and staff to Neah, Bay, WA where we had the opportunity to live with and learn from the Makah Tribe.
Hobbies and Interests: I love staying active. Whether it is bike trips, hikes, working out, paddle boarding, or making a trip to the coast to surf. I also have a particular interest in personal practices that promote personal well-being whether that involves spiritual reflection, reading, or traveling to new places and meeting new people.

Jesuit ideal I most identify with: Faith That Does Justice. I think we all have a responsibility to be change agents who work to make our community a more just place to learn and live. Our faith can guide our commitment to this work.
Reasons I enjoy working at Gonzaga University: I like that Gonzaga is a small campus, which allows us to connect more easily with each other and give students personal attention. I get to work with some fantastic campus partners who care deeply about their work and have a genuine desire to provide the best experience for our students. I'm grateful to work with such hardworking and kindhearted professionals.
What I enjoy about Spokane and the Northwest: Born and raised in North Idaho, I really appreciate the ability to be close to family and old friends. Being in Spokane gives me the opportunity to re-explore spots I enjoyed as a child and also make new memories in a city that I'm learning to love. I also enjoy how many ski resorts the Northwest has to offer and how easy it is to drive to the mountain and be on the lift in minutes.
Ways I have been able to get involved on-campus: I'm looking forward to getting involved with the Center for Community Engagement and finding ways to be involved not just on our campus, but in the greater Spokane community. I'm also a strong advocate of holistic well-being and healthy relationships. Violence prevention is key to creating a place where we can all pursue our goals.
Hobbies and Interests: If there is a mountain, I'll be there either hiking or skiing! I also enjoy watching documentaries and doing book clubs with friends. When we aren't in a global pandemic, I'm a big traveler and always have my passport ready.

Reasons I enjoy working at Gonzaga University: To be able to join a team who lives out the Jesuit and institutional mission is exciting to me! The moment you step on campus you are able to see the care and concern that each individual has for one another, from staff to faculty to students. I am also thankful for the opportunity to live out my identity as a Christian, and to grow with others within this journey.
What I enjoy about Spokane and the Northwest: Everything is green! It is utterly beautiful and you are never bored. I love that a quick trip to the lake or mountains is doable, as well as going on a walk or run on the Centennial Trail - which is in my backyard. I am also incredibly thankful that the city has everything you need, and allows for a day drive to larger cities in the Pacific Northwest!

Jesuit ideal I most identify with: "Contemplatives in Action". This ideal perfectly sums up for me the calling of Christ - a life of reflection and pursuit of inner holiness that goes hand in hand with actively serving our neighbor. The markings of a healthy inner life are outward workings toward justice, peace, and humility in our communities.

Jesuit ideal I most identify with: Cura personalis. I feel like it’s important to be attentive to yourself and your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual needs in order to care for others and their needs. Accepting people for who they are and connecting on a deeper level in all aspects of life.
Reasons I enjoy working at Gonzaga University: I enjoy working at Gonzaga because of the small, community feel and that the mission is built on the Jesuit values. Having a value based mission fosters more meaningful relationships amongst faculty, staff and students and gives greater purpose to the work that we do. I really value the relationships I have made with colleagues and students across campus and the opportunities I am provided for personal and professional development.
What I enjoy about Spokane and the Northwest: Growing up in Montana, I have come to appreciate the Northwest. Spokane is a big city with a small town vibe (you are almost guaranteed to run into someone you know or are connected to in some way). There are all the dining and entertainment options you would find in a big city but are still the local hot spots that make you feel like you are in a small town. With the numerous outdoor recreation spots within a short drive, there are plenty of opportunities for a relaxing weekend getaway.
Ways I have been able to get involved on-campus: I work closely with a variety of departments across campus but mainly the Controller’s Office, Purchasing, Student Employment and Payroll in regards to budgets and finances. I am one of only a few Advanced Editors for our website on-campus which has provided me the opportunity to work closely with MarComm and assist other departments needing assistance with web edits. In addition to web editing, I am part of the Housing and Residence Life Social Media and Marketing committee which allows me to work closely with our student marketing assistant and use my creativity in ways I am unable to do with budgets.
Hobbies and Interests: I love working on craft projects and have been slightly obsessed with Pinterest projects lately. Outside of crafting, I enjoy spending time with friends, family and especially my four-legged baby boy, Raven. I have become more of a homebody over the past few years and enjoy relaxing and binging on the latest Netflix shows but I love to travel, experience new places and play volleyball and softball.
