On-Campus Residency Requirement
Gonzaga University requires first- and second-year students under 21 to live on campus. Living on campus supports academic success, builds community, and helps students stay connected to important campus resources.
Some students may be eligible to request a housing exemption if they meet specific criteria outlined below.
What Is a Housing Exemption?
A housing exemption is approval to live off campus instead of in university housing. Exemptions are reviewed individually and must meet Gonzaga’s eligibility requirements.
Important things to know:
- Exemptions are not guaranteed
- Approval is granted for a specific term or academic year
- Submitting a request does not mean it will automatically be approved
- Incomplete requests will not be reviewed
Who Is Eligible to Request a Housing Exemption
Students may request a housing exemption only if they meet one of the approved categories below.
- Living at home with a parent or guardian within 20 miles of Gonzaga's campus
