New Student Scholarships

The School of Law annually awards nearly $6 million in scholarships to incoming 1L students. Your application for admission is your application for merit-based scholarship consideration. Scholarship eligibility is based on scholastic merit, including undergraduate GPA and LSAT performance. All scholarships are guaranteed, non-conditional, and renewable for the traditional length of your program (either the traditional three-year J.D. or Executive Two-Year J.D).

This is our investment in your potential and a key commitment to your path to graduation. Requirements for guaranteed renewal are maintaining full-time enrollment and remaining academically eligible to continue.

Additional institutional scholarships available to incoming 1Ls only include our Carl Maxey Social Justice Scholarship, the Honorable Franklin D. Burgess Law Scholarships, and the Diversity in Technology & IP Law Scholarship & Internship. You can find details on those below.

New traditional three-year J.D. students may consider applying for the Carl Maxey Social Justice Scholarship, a full tuition scholarship for students interested in dedicating their career to public service. Applications for this scholarship are included in the admissions application and are due by February 15th. Executive Two-Year J.D. students are not eligible for this award

This scholarship honors the late Franklin "Frank" Burgess, a distinguished graduate of Gonzaga Law School, and is awarded to a diverse incoming student who demonstrates academic excellence.

A unique opportunity for incoming Gonzaga Law students, the Diversity in Technology & IP Law Scholarship & Internship includes an immersive multi-week program at an innovative tech company and a hands-on internship with Fig.1 Patents in Spokane, WA.

Students who receive private scholarships from outside sources must report these scholarships to our Student Financial Services Office. These scholarships are then added to student account and applied as anticipated aid. This anticipated aid is used to reduce a student's initially offered loans.
