How Faculty & Staff Can Get Involved

The fight for equality belongs to all of us. As individuals and as a community of Zags, we must share the responsibility for stamping out prejudices and protecting the dignity of all people.

What You Can Do

Say Something

If you witness something that violates the dignity of another, speak up in the moment (if you feel it’s safe to do so) and report it:

Share Your Own Story

Nothing is as compelling as hearing directly what another person has gone through.

Join the Council

Participate in the Council on Equity Inclusion and Intercultural Awareness. Visit the Council website for information on membership and how to get involved at the committee level

Join IMPACT (Intercultural and Multicultural Professionals Affecting Change Together)

IMPACT is an organization for faculty and staff of color and their allies, to support members who are part of underrepresented groups on campus. Luncheon events range from speakers on campus to conversations on current topics. Contact the Office of the Associate Academic Vice President & Chief Diversity Officer to be added to the listserv. (Ext. 6550)

Join the Colleagues of Color Workforce Affinity Group

Established in June 2017, this group provides support and identifies ways to support the University’s commitment to the dignity of all staff and faculty working at Gonzaga University and cultivates a campus climate that encourages the recruitment and retention of historically underrepresented applicants and employees. To get involved, contact the Office of the Associate Academic Vice President & Chief Diversity Officer. (Ext. 6550)

  • International Day of Tolerance: This community event—sponsored by Diversity, Inclusion, Community & Equity—occurs every fall semester
  • Diversity Monologues: Held each spring semester, this event is an avenue for Zags to express their individuality in a way that inherently promotes a cultural community
  • Take Back the Night: Held annually, the goal of this event is to create safe communities and respectful relationships through awareness events and initiatives.

Participate in Study Abroad

Lead or assist with a study abroad or domestic study trip to gain experience and insight into how people live in other parts of the world.
