Program Overview
Join us for an Information Session on Tuesday, September 15 at 12:20 p.m. in Room 314. Lunch will be provided. We hope to see you there!
The 3L January Intersession in Florence gives students the opportunity to spend two weeks in Florence during the January Intersession period. Students will earn two credits in a course titled “Law & Society in Florence” that will explore historic and contemporary legal issues in Italy and Europe and the impact law has on society. In addition to some online work completed before departure and coursework on location, students will participate in cultural activities such as museum visits and similar experiences.
For January 2027, the Law & Society course will focus on Innovation Law & Policy and will be taught by Associate Dean Agnieszka McPeak. A second section of the course may be added with another full-time Gonzaga Law faculty member, depending on demand. All materials for the course will be open source, and the final assessment will be a paper due later in Spring semester.
The 3L January Intersession in Florence is available to Gonzaga law traditional and ExecJD students who, in Spring 2027, will have 18 or fewer credits left to complete for graduation. Students who wish to also participate in clinic or externship in Spring semester may be required to be in Spokane for Intersession week and must consult their supervisors before applying.
