Volunteer leadership is paramount to Gonzaga’s mission and success as a University. In September, we invite you to first ever Leadership Summit at Gonzaga. This conference will foster your existing leadership roles, and broaden your understanding of the University, leaving you feeling prepared to represent Gonzaga in the world today.

As part of Gonzaga’s volunteer network, you will enjoy an empowering two days of leadership education, networking and idea sharing, while giving input on GU’s most critical challenges and opportunities as part of a mission-focused formation experience.

 

Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, 2020.

 

On the Gonzaga University campus.

 

All currently active Gonzaga volunteer leadership position holders (300+) are invited. Those interested in future leadership roles may be recommended for invitations as well.

 

The summit is free to attend; lodging and airfare costs will vary and are to be paid for by each individual attendee.

*Many area hotels offer Gonzaga discounts, visit the lodging page for more information. Please let conference organizers know if you have financial hardships associated with travel and lodging costs — GU may be able to help.

 

You’ll know all the answers to the questions below when you leave the summit, and so much more! Additionally, you will understand the vast number of volunteer leadership positions Gonzaga currently offers, along with the daily impacts each of them have on these topics:

  • What does the crystal ball tell us about recruiting future students for Gonzaga?

  • What Gonzaga school is celebrating its centennial in 2020, and what do we hope to accomplish?
  • What are the unique characteristics of the Gonzaga student today?
  • How do we plan to be distinctive as a Jesuit University with a shortage of Jesuits?
  • What are the top priorities for our college and schools? (Hear directly from their deans.)
  • What is the overall alumni giving percentage and what does it mean for our future?
  • How is a liberal arts education still relevant?
  • What are predicted to be the most popular jobs in the next 10 years and how is Gonzaga responding?
  • What are the most pressing opportunities and challenges for Gonzaga University, and how can you help?
 

Board of Trustees: You will provide leadership, inspiration, and mentorship for all volunteer leaders in attendance.

Board of Regents: You should attend as participants in the summit schedule, serving as role models to our future leadership. Regents will assist with summit planning and lead post-session discussions during the summit. Additionally, adding great value for attendees, each member will be matched as a mentor to another volunteer leader through our ZagsConnect platform before the summit and will continue this relationship after.

College and Schools Advisory Board Members: You will be invited to attend the summit, build camaraderie through networking with other GU volunteer leadership, bring advisory board perspectives into post-session discussions and have the option to be mentored by a Regent or Trustee leader.

Regional Chapter Leadership: You will be invited to attend the summit, build camaraderie through networking with other GU volunteer leadership, bring your regional chapter perspectives into post-session discussions and have the option to be mentored by a Regent or Trustee leader.

Critical Career Mentors: You will be invited to attend the summit, build camaraderie through networking with other GU volunteer leadership, bring career mentor perspectives into post-session discussions and have the option to be mentored by a Regent or Trustee leader.

Top Employers: You will be invited to attend the summit, build camaraderie through networking with other GU volunteer leadership, bring employer perspectives into post-session discussions and have the option to be mentored by a Regent or Trustee leader.

Alumni Scholarship Board: You will be invited to attend the summit, build camaraderie through networking with other GU volunteer leadership, bring Alumni Scholarship Board perspectives into post-session discussions and have the option to be mentored by a Regent or Trustee leader.

Parent Council Members: You will be invited to attend the summit, build camaraderie through networking with other GU volunteer leadership, bring Parent Council perspectives into post-session discussions and have the option to be mentored by a Regent or Trustee leader.

Potential Volunteer Leader: You will be invited to attend the summit, build camaraderie through networking with other GU volunteer leadership, bring personal perspectives into post-session discussions and have the option to be mentored by a Regent or Trustee leader.

 

 

The conference format will include:

  • General Sessions (All attendees to attend, post-session discussion time included.)
  • Leadership Specific Sessions (including Jesuit Leadership formation)
  • *Pre-Conference Optional Sessions
