Project Description: This project involves the design, fabrication, and testing of a circularly polarized wireless antenna on the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) Band. Most wireless antennae in today's world are designed to be vertically or horizontally polarized. With such a large number of antennae broadcasting on the same frequency at the same polarization, there is a large amount of noise in the air that can make it difficult to receive a desired signal.

Members of the team present their project to Industry advisors and faculty in February.

Students gain valuable insight through feedback from engineers in industry.

Antenna Team

A signal sent from a circularly polarized antenna, however, has much less noise to compete against, and thus will allow for a much stronger signal. This project team designed a circularly polarized antenna in High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), fabricated the designed antenna, and then tested it's specifications in a specially designed test chamber built by the project team.
