History

In 1997 Unity House, now Unity Multicultural Education Center (UMEC), was established as a result of hate and bias incidents on campus and was motivated by a student leader who strongly advocated for a positive change. The genesis of its purpose was to help the campus develop and expand its commitment to recruit, nurture and retain students, faculty, and staff of diverse cultural backgrounds.

UMEC created an interactive timeline in the center. The timeline consists of various articles, posters and flyers from various events from the inception of UMEC. We encourage you to engage!
