Wounded Warrior cart

In Spring 2015, students of the SAE used the tools in the MTC to refurbish a golf cart donated to the Spokane chapter of the Wounded Warrior Project.

A team of 10 students put in approximately 60 hours to remodel the cart donated by a wounded veteran. KXLY's Extreme Team, which also collaborated with Gonzaga's MTC on Aiden's Trike, planned to use the cart in parades and to assist in ongoing support of the Spokane chapter of the Wounded Warrior Project.

"Working on this project provides great real-world experience for students while also serving the community," said mechanical engineering major Trevor Longbottom ('15) who took the vehicle apart to evaluate and replace its components. "There’s more work that needs to be done but it’s all work that we should know how to do and it’s good learning work so we’re excited."

Northwest Golf Carts provided some mechanical parts. Jacobs Upholstery donated the cart’s seats, top and vinyl. Castle Graphics created the design for the side of the cart that displays logos for all the contributing organizations.
