Special Education Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Show competence through demonstrating content knowledge regarding the principles of behavior.
  2. Apply qualities of servant leadership by interacting and collaborating with colleagues and families of the individuals they serve while showing respect.
  3. Demonstrate appropriate dispositional qualities by reflecting and evaluating decisions and actions to be sure they are the most appropriate and beneficial to meet the needs of the individuals served and demonstrate professional behaviors in applied settings.
  4. Demonstrate data-based decision making by using effective data-based strategies to assure individuals with and without disabilities benefit from instruction.
  5. Critically analyze current educational research and evaluate and verify whether currently used curricula and/or behavior management procedures are effective as well as identifying the need for adaptation or change.
  6. Show competence through displaying knowledge of special education law and components of individualized education plans with the ability to create relevant functional objectives.
