The Department of School Psychology is proud to offer paid work opportunities for Ed.S. and Psy.D. students to support department, program, and personal professional efforts, known as Graduate Assistants (GAs). These positions are typically part-time (ranging from 5 to 20 hours a week) and are paid on an hourly basis. There are no tuition remissions or reimbursements as a graduate assistantship. GAs are often decided during the spring or summer and are based on student applications.
Typically, GAs are paired with a professor and have previously included the following roles: project coordination, research, extracurricular involvement (such as participation with the Gonzaga Disability Hockey Program or community engagement), teaching, and experiences with course preparation. Faculty are supportive of students creating a plan for their GA work and encourage students to use hours to support their career and educational goals. During the 2025 – 2026 school year, the Department of School Psychology employed 11 students as GAs.
GAs can also include specific roles in the department, such as managing the Assessment Library and supporting programmatic functioning. These GAs provide crucial support and improve organizational health as they interact with staff, faculty, and students. Our department is incredibly thankful for our GAs and encourage you to reach out to current faculty about availability and the application process.
Opportunities outside the Department of School Psychology are available through ZagsIgnite.
