GOOB Backpacking
July 22-26, 2023
GOOB Backpacking is an extraordinary opportunity to participate in an excursion with other incoming first-year students. For 2023 GOOB backpacking will take place between Orientation Sessions 3 and 5. The dates will be 7/22 - 7/26. Registration will be open to incoming students who are enrolled in Orientation Session 3 (7/20-21) or Orientation Session 5 (7/27-28). On Saturday, 7/22 we will meet at Gonzaga, make sure folk have all the gear they need for the trip, and then head by van to the trailhead a few hours away. Participants will spend the next 4 nights backpacking in the beautiful Inland Northwest. GOOB Backpacking is led by student trip leader pairs. No backpacking experience is required!
Session 3 students will be able to stay in the orientation residence hall the night of 7/21 and should plan to depart campus on 7/26
Session 5 students will be able to check into the orientation residence hall on 7/26
Personal belongings that will not be taken on the backpacking trip can be stored on campus.

Registration for all optional, fee-based programs is on a first-come, first served basis.
Cost: $525
We don't want cost to be a barrier to this experience. This trip is 1887 code eligible and half-scholarships scholarships are also available First-come-first-served.
