Interviewing

You can request a one-on-one appointment with a career coach on ZagsIgnite. Click the button to the right.

Interviews vary in type, length, structure, and purpose. For this reason, we have a wide array of resources to help you gain confidence when heading into an interview, from sample questions to practice interview programs. You can use these in any order- pick from a couple, or just focus on one. When it comes to interviews, preparation and practice are key.

Appointments with Career & Professional Development

Students and alumni can book a one-on-one appointment with a career coach to discuss interview preparation, and conduct a mock interview. Appointments are typically 30 minutes, so we recommend reaching out to the office directly by visiting or calling if you would like a longer appointment or have requests, such as a panel instead of a single interviewer. We recommend booking a mock interview in the same format as the interview itself. For instance, if your interview is a phone interview, we recommend booking a phone appointment; if the interview is a virtual video call, we recommend booking a Zoom appointment, and so on. Book your appointment online at ZagsIgnite.

Practice Online with InterviewStream

If you aren't quite ready to practice with a person, but want to test out answering questions, we have an online resource just for that! InterviewStream is an online mock interview platform, where students can log in and select from a set of pre-defined interview questions. These questions can be general or industry specific, depending on your needs. Once you have selected a set, the platform will play a recorded video of each question, then record you answering. You can review all your videos at the end, and even send them to a career coach if you would like their advice. Sign up using your Gonzaga email address at http://Gonzaga.interviewprep.app.

On-Campus Interview Rooms

Many employers and graduate programs are moving to online interviews in lieu of in-person interviews, which can be costly.  If you have scheduled an interview with an employer or graduate school and are looking for a quiet, private room to conduct the interview, Career & Professional Development can help. We have several interview rooms available to book Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), after 8:30 a.m. but ending before 4:30 p.m.

Click HERE to book an interview room in the Career & Professional Development suite on the first floor of Crosby. You will be prompted to provide the following information:

Select either 1 hour or 2 hours depending on your time needs.

  • The scheduling program automatically adds a 15-minute time buffer before your start time and end time (i.e. if you book an interview room from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the room will be held from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.)
  • If your interview is longer than two hours, please contact CPD at 509.313.4234 to discuss your interview room needs.

Select the day and time of your interview.

  • If no rooms or time slots are available, no available options will appear.

Enter your Name, Gonzaga Email Address, the employer or organization you are interviewing with, and your GU student ID.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your interview to get situated in your booked room and vacate the interview room once your interview has ended.
