Bryan Fischer brings a unique perspective to the Computer Science department as a non-traditional student and an alumnus of Gonzaga.
After high school, Bryan used his natural aptitude for computing to work in IT. As time went on, he realized that college could be an option for anyone with the drive and willingness to learn, and earned an AA from Spokane Falls Community College.
Moving on to Gonzaga, he was torn between developing his computer science skills further, or pursuing his new academic enjoyment of English literature. His academic advisor showed him that the new BA in Computer Science & Computational Thinking would allow him to pursue both, taking English as his concentration.
The overwhelmingly-positive experiences as a student both at SFCC and Gonzaga led to a desire to teach. Bryan's journey is a testament to the power of determination and hard work. As someone who initially believed attending college was out of reach, he now inspires students with his story of defying expectations and finding success through passion and persistence.
