UmbassadorsThe Umbassadors are student volunteers in Mission and Ministry that help with our events and programs. Being a part of the Umbassador team is an incredible opportunity to share your heart and time with the Gonzaga community in the context of ministry. If you are interested in partnering with the Mission and Ministry staff and students for events like Orientation and Welcome Mass, please sign up!
SAs (Student Assistants)
Students are involved in helping with all aspects of Mission and Ministry, including retreats, liturgies, office management, hospitality and group prayer and sharing (CLC). These Student Assistants form a close-knit community, supported by the Mission and Ministry staff and two chaplains who meet with them monthly for fellowship and meals.
Before the school year begins they gather at the Bozarth Center for a retreat together and then help direct the Pre-Orientation First Year Retreat. Before second semester begins SALT has a second overnight retreat in Wallace, Idaho.
Members of SALT receive a bi-semester stipend, based upon the nature of their ministry.
Applications to be a part of SALT are available in January for the following school year.
SMs (Student Ministers)
Some of the Residence Halls at Gonzaga provide peer ministry through Student Assistants who live in the halls and provide faith formation and opportunities for spiritual development.
In addition to the programs they provide in their individual halls, students selected to be resident ministers also work as a team to provide ministry to the wider Gonzaga campus through Lenten prayer services, etc. These students are also part of SALT (Student Assistants Leadership Team) and take part in the monthly gatherings and SALT retreats.
Applications for Student Ministers are available in November for the following school year.
