Gonzaga's Emergency Notification System (ZagAlert)

Gonzaga’s emergency notification system helps ensure the safety and security of our campus community. We will utilize two types of messages, an Urgent Warning or a ZagAlert, to promptly notify students, faculty and staff of situations on campus or the surrounding area. Each message will also offer clear directions for actions members of the Gonzaga community must take to ensure their safety.

ZagAlert

Issued when there is one of the following:

  • Risk of injury or harm
  • Risk of death/life threatening
  • Campus closure

Urgent Warning

Issued when there is a potential ongoing threat to safety, health, or normal operations.

  • Non-life threatening weather (heat, air quality, or prepare for incoming storm)
  • Warning to take caution, avoidance, preventative actions (police activity, transportation accident)
  • Clery Compliance (notice of crimes committed near university)

 Update your Information!

For this system to be effective, every member of the Gonzaga community needs to make sure their contact information (including mobile phone numbers and email address) is updated on a regular basis. This information will only be shared with our ZagAlert system provider.

Visit ZagWeb to enroll in ZagAlert or to update your profile with both a mobile phone number and an email address. (click here to visit the ZagWeb site)

It only takes 2 minutes and updating your information is easy as 1, 2, 3:
  1. Visit ZagWeb
  2. Click on Enter Secure Area and login using your Zagweb User ID/PIN
  3. Click on ZagAlert, enter mobile phone number and verify email address, click Submit.
Note: Please provide a non-GU email address, and encourage your emergency contact to install the MyConnect app on their mobile device

ZagAlert will simultaneously send voice messages to all phone numbers provided, text messages to mobile numbers provided and email messages. In addition, the system will update Gonzaga’s Facebook (Facebook.com/GonzagaUniversity) and Twitter (Twitter.com/GonzagaU) pages with the message and instructions.

Not a current student, faculty or staff member at Gonzaga, but still want to receive emergency notifications? Check out the Blackboard MyConnect app to subscribe to alerts.
