Why am I taking these courses?

Use the table below to look up your courses and see how they count towards your Gonzaga degree.

Your courses fulfill one or more of the following requirements: University Core, Major/Minor requirements, and/or elective/other. You will see the applicable check mark underneath the requirement(s) your course fulfills. For course descriptions and degree/major requirements, visit the course Catalogs.

Special Notes:

* Engineers, Mathematics, Chemistry, Human Physiology, Nursing, Business and some social science majors will take Mathematics in their first semester.  Most students in these fields will take the ALEKS online assessment to place them in the appropriate math course first semester.  Students entering Gonzaga with math credit, or majoring in Business, will not take ALEKS for math placement, and will instead be placed based on academic records and transcripts. Other students may be placed in a mathematics course first semester, while others may not. MATH 100 is considered remedial math, and is a prep course for future math requirements only. It does not meet the University Core requirement. MATH 103 and up courses do fulfill the University Math requirement.

** Required courses for Honors Program students. These courses are program specific, but are open to non-program students on a space available basis only. Priority is given to HONORS students first.

*** One-credit activity courses (MUSC, THEA, EDPE) are optional. You may have opted into one of these in the initial registration survey. You may also add/drop these during Schedule Change Times. These courses do count toward graduation.
