Work Study Employment

Gonzaga offers two types of need-based work study for enrolled students: Federal Work Study (on-campus employment)and State Work Study (off-campus employment.)

Federal Work Study (FWS) is available to freshmen and sophomores in various academic and administrative departments who have been determined eligible, by first completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Aid). The amount designated on the award letter must be earned by working in a FWS position on-campus. FWS positions are real jobs and students get paid (up to the amount stated on the award letter) for the number of hours worked. It is up to the student and his/her family to determine if this earned money will be applied to the student's account or used as the student's living expenses.

If you have been awarded FWS, view our " Steps for Getting a FWS Job."

State Work Study (SWS) employment is available to enrolled junior, senior, graduate, and law students in various off-campus, state-approved positions. The amount designated on the student's Financial Aid award letter must be earned by working in an approved SWS position. Students with SWS can apply for current SWS postings or recruit new off-campus employers into the program. Students working in SWS are not Gonzaga employees.

If you have been awarded SWS, view our " Steps for Getting a SWS Job."
