What do you like about the Gonzaga community?
When a ZAG helps a ZAG in need; the hard working advocates for social justice; the spirit of service; the moments when we believe “ZAG” really includes all types of people.

What do you like to do when you aren't at work?
I like to tend my garden, ride my bike, bake & cook.  I also enjoy thoughtful, political, inspiring, and hilarious conversations with my husband and friends.  I accept good podcast recommendations.

Bethany Hickey

Assistant Director

M.A. in Public Administration from Eastern Washington University
B.S. in Government from Eastern Washington University

What do you like to do when you aren't at work?
I enjoy spending most of my free time with my husband and our three kids, plus our extended family. Does not matter if we’re just watching a favorite show together or going on adventures, I enjoy it all. My favorite activities are reading, swimming, video games, and shopping for more books.

What books, movies, or TV shows could you nerd about?
I am a lover of all things science fiction and fantasy. I am always down for book swaps/recommendations. I will completely nerd out if you talk about anything related to the works of Sarah J Maas (author) or anything Star Trek related. In fact, I have been trying to teach myself Klingon so that I can sing one of my favorite songs Karaoke entirely in Klingon.

What books, movies, or TV shows could you nerd out about?
Dickens, Trollope, and Thackeray; Parks and Rec, Bob’s Burgers, and The Haunting of Hill House.

Graduate Assistant

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
I would tell my 18-year-old self to take full advantage of every opportunity that will allow me to grow into the person that I want to become!

What do you like to do when you aren’t at work?
When I am not at work, I enjoy going on long runs, being outside, and talking with my friends and family. I also really enjoy watching movies and cooking!

Zoey Myer

Graduate Assistant

Juris Doctor Candidate, Gonzaga University School of Law (’25), Spokane, WA
B.S. in Criminal Justice, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ

What do you like to do when you aren’t working or studying?
I love spending time at my local library where I can pick up a book, sit down, and read the whole thing before I go back home. I enjoy good coffee, watching any of my favorite sports teams, and spending time with my friends. If I am not in Spokane, you will likely find me back home in Arizona sitting outside soaking every piece of the sun.

What books, movies, or TV shows could you nerd about?
I love all genres of books. However, my favorite includes anything with a sprinkle of romance. Some of my favorite authors are Emily Henry, Sarah J. Maas, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Kristin Hannah. I also love any movie starring Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but The Office is the best sit com.

Melinda Cadwallader

Graduate Assistant

M.A. Communication Leadership, Gonzaga School of Leadership (’24)
B.S. Communications, Lewis-Clark State College

What do you like about the Gonzaga Community?
I appreciate the embrace of cura personalis - care for the whole person. It reminds me of the beautiful complexity of each person, and that caring for others, and ourselves, means valuing our social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs.

What do you like to do when you are not working or engaging in graduate studies?
I love hopping in my kayak, pushing off from the shore, and using all my senses to observe nature. She is a great teacher! I also love cooking Italian food, date nights watching baseball games with my husband, writing, and going thrifting with my teens.
