Our two-year master’s program in School Counseling prepares you for a career as a professional school counselor. Our graduates have the ability to work with students, families, school staff, communities, and educational systems to cultivate communities support student well-being, opportunity, and success.
Professional Preparation
This degree program provides you with the opportunity to:
- Develop your individualized theory of counseling and professional identity through a process of critical thought, self-discovery, and personal growth.
- Learn the components and ethics of a comprehensive school counseling program as outlined by the American School Counseling Association National Model.
- Engage in meaningful professional and service experiences in practicum and internship placements in K-12 settings.
- Integrate competency-based and Washington State best practices into your practice.
- Support student achievement in the areas of personal, social, academic, and career development through interventions with individual, small group, classroom, and school wide interventions.
- Attend and present research at local, state, and national professional and academic conferences, and to advocate for the profession of school counseling.
- Graduate with eligibility for both a Washington State ESA School Counseling Certificate and an associate clinical mental health counseling license.
