Would you like more storage space? A different look for your room? Maybe just more space in your room?
We have a few different options for your bed that may help achieve some of those goals. Loft kits and Raised beds provide more space under your bed for storage or furniture. Bunked beds provide more space in your room for whatever you might need. Additional facts about on Campus Beds can be found on the bottom of this webpage.
Loft Kits
How to reserve a loft kit.
- The University has a significant, but limited number of loft kits that may be reserved for use during the school year. These loft kits are available on a first come, first served basis.
- The beds at Rental houses, Sharp Apartments, Sinto Apartments, Burch, upper division Corkery suites, the top 2 floors of Kennedy and any other upper division apartments are not "loftable." We also do not raise beds in these buildings.
- To reserve a loft kit, please click the Loft Kit Reservation Form button at the bottom of this page and submit the form. You will need to provide your student ID number, your name, building and room number (if you already know it, you do not need to know it to reserve), which height you would like your loft set at (see the pictures below), the side of the room on which you would like the bed (i.e. if you are standing in the doorway looking into your room, would you like your loft on the left or the right?), a phone number to reach you and an email address. If you do not know your student ID, building, or room number submit the form anyway to be put on the list. - Please understand that filling out and sending the form does not guarantee that you will receive a loft kit. You will be notified in August before check-in weekend if you received a loft kit by email.
- Also, please note that we do not provide you with a ladder to get into your bed. The ends of your bed can be used to climb onto the bed.
What happens after you have "reserved" a loft kit?
- The Custodial Department sets up all lofts to ensure that they are put together safely. Custodial will not leave an un-assembled kit for a student to assemble. You do not need to be in your room for your loft kit to be installed, but please make sure the area under your bed is clear.
- Once assembled, Custodial will attach a form to the lofted bed that informs you how to return the loft kit at the end of the Spring semester (or earlier in the year, should you choose not to keep the loft kit). It is a good idea to keep this form to ensure that you are not charged for the loft kit. This form also includes some do's and don'ts for your loft kit.
- You should not give your unwanted loft kit or parts of the kit to other students. Also, the Loft kit part should not be put in the hallway. The loft has been checked out in your name, and you are responsible for seeing it returned to the Custodial Department in order to avoid the $450 replacement fee. Once you have received the loft kit, you are held responsible for it.
How do you return your loft kit?
- To return a loft kit, please email loftkit@gonzaga.edu with your student ID number, name, building and room number, side of the room, and contact information, along with the information that you have a loft kit to be collected.
- Please do not dis-assemble the loft kit yourself, or put any parts or pieces of the Loft Kit in the hallway.
- The Custodial Department will make sure that you have been credited for the loft kit once the loft has been picked up.
How tall are loft kits?
Below are three pictures of dorm beds, in various states of height. The first is a standard bed. The second shows a standard bed with a loft kit installed in its lower position. The third shows a standard bed with a loft kit installed in its standard position.

Bunked Beds
- Most beds are "bunkable," except for those in the top two floors of Kennedy and the upper division apartments (unless the apartment has multiple tenants per bedroom, by request of Housing).
- Bunking pins are available at the Plant & Construction Services Customer Service Desk (1004 N Ruby St), and the Custodial Department is always happy to assist any students who wish to bunk their beds.
- Please click the Loft Kit Reservation Form button below to request that the Custodial Department bunk your beds. You will need to provide your student ID number, name, building and room number, the side of the room on which you would like the beds bunked (i.e. if you are standing in the doorway looking into your room, would you like your beds on the left or the right?), a phone number to reach you and an email address. If you do not know your student ID, building, or room number submit the form anyway to be put on the list.

Raised Bed
- Most beds are raisable, except for those in the top two floors of Kennedy and the upper division apartments (unless the apartment has multiple tenants per bedroom, by request of Housing).
- To request that your bed be raised, please click the Loft Kit Reservation Form button below and put Raised bed in the Bed modification drop down as your choice. You will need to provide your student ID number, name, building and room number, the side of the room your bed is on (i.e. if you are standing in the doorway looking into your room, is your bed on the left or the right?), a phone number to reach you and an email address. If you do not know your student ID, building, or room number submit the form anyway to be put on the list.

- The standard mattress requires twin XL sheets.
- The standard mattress is 78" or 6' 6" long.
