Evan W. Lauteria is a sociologist of culture, media, and science/technology. His dissertation project, nearing completion at the University of California-Davis, explores the history of the Japanese video games industry via the “social shaping of technology” and the “production of culture” perspectives in sociology. In addition, Lauteria’s previous publications have focused on queer and transgender representation in video games, with particular attention to the work of translation and product localization in shaping game content.
