Honoring Our Veterans

Each year, on November 11, the nation honors its Veterans: those among us who have served in the Armed Forces, whether in times of war and conflict, or in times of peace. An estimated 17.9 million Americans are counted as members of the Veteran community.

Gonzaga University is proud to have a strong community of Veterans among its students, faculty, staff and administrators. On this day we pay tribute to all Veterans, we are mindful of the sacrifices made by those who served in places of danger and active hostilities. We are conscious that many Veterans bear long-term effects of such experiences, including various injuries and illness, including depression, post-traumatic stress, and anxiety.

Throughout the week, the Transfer Veteran Returning Adult Services(TVRAS) Office has provided numerous opportunities to recognize our student Veterans, honoring the journeys they had prior to or while attending Gonzaga. We are so grateful for our colleagues in TVRAS whose support seeks to make current military and Veteran students’ transition to civilian life as smooth as possible.

As we remember our Veterans this weekend, I ask that you keep our Veterans, their family members, and all those who support them in your thoughts and prayers. May they truly feel our support and understand how grateful the Gonzaga Community is for their service and experiences.
