State Work Study Off-Campus
Steps for Getting a SWS (off-campus) Job
If you have been awarded State Work Study as part of your financial aid award package, follow steps 1-4.
Think about your major and the type of position in which you want to gain experience. Then think about the type of organization and/or company you would like to work for.
After looking at our SWS on-line positions, contact the employers and let them know you are a State Work Study student from Gonzaga University and you would like to apply for their SWS position. Please be specific about which position you are applying for. The employers will then let you know what their interview and hiring procedures are. Have a cover letter and resume ready.
Once you have been hired, please give your employer your State Work Study Hire Form. This form is e-mailed to your Gonzaga email address in August. If you do not have one, you can request a State Work Study Hire Form from the Student Employment Office. You and your employer must complete this form and receive an approval email before you can start working. Once the form is completed, please return it to the Student Employment Office (College Hall 126, or by fax: 509.313.6287). We accept SWS Hire Forms on a first-come, first-served basis. SWS spots are limited, so start your job search early.
If you know of a company you would like to work for that is not currently part of the State Work Study Program, ask the State Work Study Program Specialist for more information. You can recruit employers and bring them into the State Work Study Program.
