At Gonzaga, athletics are rooted in the Jesuit tradition of educating the whole person – mind, body and spirit. All students have the opportunity to develop physical and mental health through sports and exercise.
Gonzaga offers athletic competition for all students at the intramural and club levels. Intramural sports and club sports provide students with an avenue to participate in a fun environment that encourages safe, healthy activity and participation. Club sports include men's and women's soccer, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, and rugby and men's volleyball.
Intramural sports has become one of the most popular attractions on campus offering 22 total sports and events throughout the academic year. Fall semester sports and events include Freshmen Games, Golf Tournament, 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, Fall Triathlon Challenge, Flag Football, Fall Soccer, Pre-Season Basketball Classic, Volleyball 6’s, Badminton, Racquetball Tournament, Dodge ball, and a Swim Meet. The spring semester consists of Basketball, Spring Soccer, Volleyball 4’s, Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, Spring Triathlon Challenge, Home Run Derby, March Madness, Bench Press, and Pickle Ball. Gonzaga competes in 14 NCAA Division I varsity sports and is a member of the West Coast Conference. Gonzaga ranks sixth in the country for Student Athletic Performance - a national rating system that combines athletic success with academic success. Men's sports at Gonzaga include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer and tennis. Women's sports are basketball, cross country, golf, rowing, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. Athletics and Gonzaga University have a long and successful history together. The blend of Gonzaga spirit, hard work and dedication in athletic endeavors yields success both on the field of play and in the classroom.
