Welcome to the Office of the President
Happy 2015! This new year promises great opportunity and excitement for Gonzaga University; I hope it does for you and your family as well. The NCAA basketball tournament, commencement of another dynamic senior class, the grand opening of the Hemmingson Center and an all-class reunion in October are just a few of the blessings ahead for GU.
A tradition we are blessed to start this year with is Gonzaga Day on January 31. This year’s theme is “Believe in Zags.” Being part of a community where people believe in one another is empowering. As we celebrate Gonzaga Day, I want to thank all who believe in our university: our generous donors, parents who entrust their children to us, business owners who hire our grads and a community that deeply loves us, not just for the excitement of a fantastic basketball team, but also for our commitment to educating people that will make a difference in our communities and world.
One of the most profound ways to show your belief in the power of education and what a Gonzaga student will do for his/her field of interest and community is through scholarships. So many of our students and alumni would not be where they are today without the financial support of generous benefactors. This is why I’ve initiated the Zag Scholarship Promise. You will be hearing more about the promise on Gonzaga Day and throughout the year, and I ask that you join me in this effort.
2015 will bring us continued opportunities to impact the world in a positive way, here on the main campus, in our programs abroad, and through our ever-growing population of online students benefiting from Jesuit education via distance learning.
I hope to see many of you on campus and in my travels this coming year. Follow me on Twitter to see what happens next. @Gonzaga_Prez.
