Welcome to the Office of the President
Great opportunity and excitement abound for Gonzaga University as we complete this academic year and look ahead to the next. The NCAA basketball tournament, commencement of another dynamic senior class, the grand opening of the Hemmingson Center and an all-class reunion in October are just a few of the blessings for GU.
We were blessed to start this year with Gonzaga Day on January 31. The theme of “Believe in Zags” celebrated the empowerment of a community where people believe in one another. I want to thank all who believe in our university: our generous donors, parents who entrust their children to us, business owners who hire our grads and a community that deeply loves us, not just for the excitement of a fantastic basketball team, but also for our commitment to educating people that will make a difference in our communities and world.
One of the most profound ways to show your belief in the power of education and what a Gonzaga student will do for his/her field of interest and community is through scholarships. So many of our students and alumni would not be where they are today without the financial support of generous benefactors. This is why I’ve initiated the Zag Scholarship Promise. I ask that you join me in this effort to ensure that those who want to be a Zag are afforded that opportunity.
With your continued support, we are embracing opportunities to impact the world in a positive way, here on the main campus, in our programs abroad, and through our ever-growing population of online students benefiting from Jesuit education via distance learning.
I hope to see many of you on campus and in my travels this spring and summer. Follow me on Twitter to see what happens next. @Gonzaga_Prez.
