Steps for Getting a SWS Job
If you have been awarded State Work Study as part of your financial aid award package, follow steps 1-4.
1. Think about your major and the type of position in which you want to gain experience. Then think about the type of organization and/or company you would like to work for.
2. After looking at our SWS on-line positions or through our SWS job posting book, contact the employers and let them know you are a State Work Study student from Gonzaga University and you would like to apply for their SWS position. Please be specific about which position you are applying for. The employers will then let you know what their interview and hiring procedures are. Have a resume ready.
3. Once you have been hired, please give your employer your State Work Study Hire Form. This form is mailed to your home at the beginning of fall and at the beginning of summer.If you do not have one, you can request a State Work Study Hire Form from the Student Employment Office. You and your employer must complete this form before you start working. Once the form is completed, please return it to the Student Employment Office. We accept SWS Hire Forms on a first-come, first-served basis. SWS spots are limited, so start your job search early.
4. If you know of a company you would like to work for that is not currently part of the State Work Study Program, ask the State Work Study ProgramSpecialist for more information. You can recruit employers and bring them into the State Work Study Program.
