The successful candidate will have demonstrated initiative, creativity, and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills and strong organizational skill required. The planner works closely with our clients and their advocates to identify client skills, strengths, interests and support needs. The planner spends significant time with the client, getting to understand the types of employment situations that will be most successful. The planner facilitates planning meetings, during which the planner must take a primary role in leading the exploration of employment possibilities, using the input of the client and/or other meeting participants to construct a thorough picture of the individual's employment opportunities and goals. This often requires the planner to develop creative employment strategies that will help the individual overcome potential barriers to employment. With the information gathered through observation and facilitated meetings, the planner is responsible for creating a written service plan, which describes the general strategies and specific actions steps to be pursued in order to find and/or maintain successful employment. The actual work of finding and maintaining employment is performed by job developers and job coaches, but the planner is responsible for coordinating these support efforts. Though this is not a supervisory position, the planner is uniquely positioned to coordinate these service efforts, and therefore needs to be an effective member of this integrated team, leading monthly team meetings to review service quality and outcomes, and evaluate the possible need for service plan revision. As with all positions in our employment department, the successful candidate must be committed to the idea that each client can bring value as an employee and make significant contributions in the workplace. Once I decide on a person, I would like to have you stay 2 nights a week to provide early morning childcare and transport to daycare to see if you are a good fit. I will pay $10 an hour for this during the month of July as well as possibly use you for other childcare times that will be paid. Then I would like you to move in by August 1.
