We encourage students to begin the T&D program with a Certificate as a non-matriculated student (one who has not fully applied to a degree program). Learn how to register for the Certificate here.
Those who successfully earned the certificate will have the application fee waived. The certificate does NOT guarantee acceptance into the Master's program.
Once you have formally been admitted to the Master's program, you have six years to complete your coursework and graduation requirements.
Prepare Required Application Materials
Admission to the program will be administered by faculty and staff of the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Preferred consideration for admission will be given to applications with industry experience who have completed the T&D Certificate Program. Please provide the following with your application.
Request one official transcript from each college or university attended be sent directly to Gonzaga. You must submit transcripts from any school listed on your application, even if you only took one class there. Only degrees and courses from a regionally-accredited institution will be accepted.
- If your cumulative GPA falls below a 3.0 please include an explanation of GPA statement.
- If you previously attended Gonzaga or are a current student, GU transcripts are ordered by your Admissions Counselor on your behalf.

Provide the contact information for two professional references who can send a letter of recommendation evaluating the following:
- Your leadership potential
- Interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking
- Professional practice
- Your ability and capacity to complete a graduate degree
Supervisors or past professors are great choices for references. The request for letters of recommendation are facilitated through the online application. Recommendations from family members are not accepted.
Letter of Intent
Submit an 1-2 page letter explaining why you should be admitted to the T&D Master's program. It should include the following:
- Your accomplishments or personal qualities that fit well with the power industry.
- Your employment experience in the power industry and current position.
- Your goals and what you hope to gain from this graduate degree.
This letter can be uploaded with your electronic application.
Update your professional resume so that all information is accurate. The resume can be uploaded with your electronic application.

You may apply at any time. Admitted students may begin at the start of any T&D session (see schedule for upcoming session dates). We recommend that you complete your application three months prior to the semester you wish to start.
