Our Graduate School of Business partners with Gonzaga’s School of Law to offer you the opportunity to simultaneously earn both a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Business Administration, Master of Accountancy, or Master of Science in Taxation degree in as little as three years. These dual graduate degree programs allow you to gain skills in both business and law to prepare you for careers in the rapidly changing business and legal environments.

The dual degree program is designed to meet a two-fold need. On the one hand, there is need for lawyers who are trained in business. A legal education may sufficiently equip a person for general law practice or even for certain legal specializations, but the role of the lawyer in relation to business and other institutional needs demands preparation beyond the scope of a legal education. On the other hand, a successful business executive, skilled in financial and practical decision-making processes, will benefit from a thorough knowledge of the law.

Our dual degree programs include:

  • Master of Business Administration/Juris Doctor: The JD is a 90-credit degree, and the MBA is a 33-credit degree. Dual degree students can waive a combination of nine credit hours (for a total of 114 credits), but cannot waive more than six credits from either program.
  • Master of Accountancy/Juris DoctorThe MAcc program is a 31-credit program. Dual degree students can waive a combination of nine credits (for a total of 112 credits) but cannot waive more than six credits from either program.
  • Master of Science in Taxation/Juris Doctor: The MSTax program is a 31-credit program. Dual degree students can waive a combination of nine credits (for a total of 112 credits) but cannot waive more than six credits from either program.

To be admitted into a dual degree program, you must apply and be accepted to both the Graduate School of Business and the School of Law.

Dual degree students can waive a combination of 9 credits from both programs combined. No more than six of these nine credits may be waived from the student’s law or business program of study. With the exception of the reduction in the total number of credits described, all requirements of both schools must be satisfied.
