Prepare to Job Search
- Prepare your resume (and cover letter) and upload it to ZagsIgnite. If you don’t have a resume or want help creating one Career and Professional Development is a great resource.
- Complete your profile in ZagsIgnte*.
*Keep in mind new/transfer students don’t gain access till mid-July.
Job Searching
ZagsIgnite can connect you to student employers but also employers across the country. We recommend using the following filters when searching for student employment:
- Select “Jobs” from the banner.
- Filter “Position Type” = Student Employment
- Filter “Jobs I Qualify For”
Job Scam Awareness
Online job scammers are getting more bold and active than before. When conducting your search, if something seems too good to be true, if you are asked to handle checks or gift cards, or if something seems a little off, assume you are being scammed and halt all communication. Please contact us immediately if you believe a posted position may be fraudulent.Interviewing
Wear professional attire, arrive early, and don’t forget a copy of your resume. Make sure to monitor your ZagMail to ensure you haven’t missed communications about scheduling your interview.
Job Offer
Once you have been offered a position, your supervisor will communicate how to complete the hire form. Your supervisor then completes the hire form and Student Employment reviews the request. Student Employment will email students who have never worked on campus before instructions on how to Complete Section 1 of the Form I-9 online.
Students must then provide documentation that establishes their identity and employment authorization. Documentation will be show during an in-person appointment and must be the original version and unexpired. A complete list of acceptable documentation will be emailed to you upon completion of Section 1 of Form I-9.
Once we have received and processed your information, you will receive notification that you are cleared to begin your position!
Onboarding
After receiving your Clearance to Work email, you are able to begin working. Watch for your Onboarding email letting you know you have access to your "Employee Dashboard" tile in Zagweb. This is your student employee profile and is used for timesheet submission, W-2 & W-4 changes, pay information and more. Please familiarize yourself with the following areas:
- Complete Your Direct Deposit Authorization
- Electronic W-4 & W-2 Set up and Submission Process
- Web Time Entry
Pay periods are the 1st – 15th (paid on the 25th) and the 16th through the end of the month (paid on the 10th of the following month). Deadline for timesheet submission is by 11:59 P.M. of the last day of the pay period. Questions should be directed to the Payroll Office at 509-313-6980 or payroll@gonzaga.edu.
