Clarence H. "Bud" Barnes began his career as an instructor at Appalachian State University. Upon completion of doctoral studies, at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1973, Dr. Barnes joined the faculty of Gonzaga University, as an assistant professor in its School of Business Administration. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1979, and served as the Dean for more than 30 years. He is now a Professor of Economics and Dean Emeritus.
Dr. Barnes maintains a limited teaching schedule and continues with scholarly contributions within his discipline. He has served on numerous committees for AACSB and continues to serve as a peer-reviewer for the association. Additionally, he has served on numerous private and public boards and is often employed in a consulting capacity on issues of economic valuations.
