Constitution Day is observed each year on September 17, commemorating the day in 1787 when delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution in Philadelphia. It serves as a federal observance recognizing both the adoption of the Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. The law mandates educational programming about the Constitution’s history in publicly funded institutions and federal agencies on this day.
