Holidays At Gonzaga University
All regular employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week are eligible for holiday pay upon their hire date. Holiday pay equals one-fifth of an employee's regular work week. Part-time employees are paid holiday pay equivalent to the number of hours regularly scheduled on that day. Temporary employees and employees on unpaid leave of absence are not eligible for holiday pay.
Employees required to work on a holiday are paid their regular salary for the shift worked and granted an additional day's pay or day off at their supervisor's discretion. The day off should be scheduled as soon as possible after the holiday. If a holiday occurs while an employee is on paid sick leave or a regularly scheduled vacation, the hours are reported and paid as a holiday. If a holiday occurs on an employee's regularly scheduled day off, the employee receives a paid day off at another time. Employees must be paid the day before and after the holiday to be eligible for holiday pay.
