- Eligibility for Paid Vacation: Regular full-time and part-time (20-31 hours per week) employees, employed on a regular twelve-month basis, are eligible for paid vacation. Vacation must be taken during the anniversary year following the year it was earned and may be carried into successive years only with the area vice president's and Human Resources' prior approval. Approval forms are available from the Payroll Office.
Pay in lieu of vacation may be approved only by the President in writing.
Staff - After completing twelve months continuous service, staff employees earn ten working days paid vacation. Staff employees with five to fourteen years of service earn fifteen days paid vacation. After fifteen years of service, staff employees earn twenty working days paid vacation.
Regular part-time staff employees working a minimum of twenty hours per week accrue vacation on an equivalent pro-rated basis according to their established work schedule.
Administrative and Professional - After completing twelve months continuous service in a regular position, Administrative and Professional employees earn fifteen working days paid vacation. Those with five or more years of service earn twenty working days paid vacation.
Regular part-time administrative and professional employees working 20-31 hours per week accrue vacation on an equivalent pro-rated basis according to their established work schedule.
Academic Associate Deans, Academic Assistant Deans, Associate Academic Vice Presidents, and Associate Vice Presidents- Receive an immediate twenty working days paid vacation per year.
Academic Deans and Executives - Receive an immediate twenty-two working days paid vacation per year. - Vacation Scheduling: Vacations are approved and scheduled by the supervisor, considering the employee's length of service and request date. Employees should request vacation as far in advance as possible; every effort is made to grant the time requested. Requests may occasionally be denied based on request date, prior scheduled vacations, or department workload. Supervisors should respond to vacation requests within ten working days of the request. Upon request, employees may use vacation after six months continuous employment, with supervisory approval.
- Vacation Payment at Employment End: At the end of employment, accumulated vacation is paid to regular employees with at least twelve months continuous service. Employees who have taken vacation and whose employment ends before their first anniversary will have that vacation pay deducted from their final paycheck. Employees found to have engaged in conduct which has a financial impact on the University (i.e., stealing or damaging University material, equipment, or funds) and whose employment ends due to that conduct, will not receive pay for accrued, unused vacation.
