Group Benefits Plans

The group benefits listed below are only a summary of the actual programs. Employees should obtain plan documents and details from the Benefits Office.

  1. Medical Insurance: Effective the first of the month following their hire date, all regular employees who work a minimum of twenty hours per week are eligible for medical benefits. The University pays the entire premium for full-time employees and one-half of dependent premiums. For part-time employees, the University pays one-half of the employee premium and employees are responsible for all dependent premiums.

  2. Life Insurance: Effective the first of the month following their hire date, all regular full-time employees have life insurance equal to two times their annual salary. The University pays the entire premium.

  3. Dental Insurance: After one year of service, the University offers dental insurance for all regular full-time employees. The University pays the employee premium in full. Employees are responsible for dependent premiums. Employees may participate during their first year of employment and pay the entire premium.

  4. Long Term Disability (LTD): After one year of service, the University offers group disability insurance for regular full-time employees and pays the entire premium. Long Term Disability provides two-thirds salary continuance after ninety calendar days of continuous disability caused by a major illness or injury.

  5. Flexible Spending Plan: Effective the first of the month following their hire date, all regular employees who work a minimum of twenty hours per week are eligible to participate in the Flexible Spending Plan. The plan allows employees to pay group insurance premiums, out-of-pocket medical/dental and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
