Long Term Disability

The Long Term Disability Plan begins in your second year of employment. The plan pays 66-2/3% of your base monthly salary to a maximum of $13,000 per month for a medically necessary disability lasting longer than 90 days for staff and 180 days for faculty. Gonzaga University pays the full premium. For additional information on the plan, please click on the links below:

Supplemental Long Term Disability

Did you know that three (3) in ten (10) workers entering the workforce today will become disabled before retiring? Becoming disabled can affect your ability to work, to earn an income, and to provide for yourself and your family.

Gonzaga University currently provides you with long term disability coverage that will cover 66.67% of your income in the event you become disabled. In order to supplement that income or protect additional income that you earn, you have the opportunity to elect MassMutual's supplemental long term disability plan within 30 days of employment.

If you are interested in receiving a quote on this benefit, please contact Jennifer Thomsen at (206) 346-3269 or Sarah Rieger at (509) 747-2075.

Short Term Disability - Faculty Only

Full-time faculty members are eligible on the first day of the contract year after one year of service (for contracts effective the first day of a month, otherwise, the first of the following month).

The University offers a self-funded plan that is designed to provide continuation of full salary and benefits for periods of a medically certified disability for up to six months. This is for the faculty member's own illness.
