The West Court Street Bridge was originally a timber bridge constructed in a residential neighborhood in the town of Chewelah, WA. The bridge was constructed thirty years ago to cross the Chewelah Creek and was removed three years ago due to structural failure in the bridge deck.
Our group was responsible for evaluating potential construction materials and creating a design for a new bridge. Ultimately, the group decided to design a pre-stressed concrete bridge to cross the creek. The bridge was designed with seven four foot wide prestressed concrete slabs that spanned thirty feet from end to end with guardrails on each side.
