Do you want to become Catholic?HOW TO BECOME A ROMAN CATHOLIC AT GONZAGA UNIVERSITY RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Fr. George Morris, S.J. at University Ministry (x5517) is the person to contact about these matters. Registration due in the first half of September.
STUDENTS ENTERING THE CHURCH THIS YEAR During the 2007-2008 academic year, five students became Catholics--three were Baptized into the Catholic Church; one made a profession of faith. During this same academic year, one student received the Sacrament of Confirmation, by which they became fully-incorporated members of the Roman Catholic church. THE RCIA PROGRAM: RECEIVING THE SACRAMENTS OF BAPTISM, EUCHARIST, AND CONFIRMATION If you have never been baptized as a Christian and feel inspired to enter the Roman Catholic Church, then apply for the RCIA program (= Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). Over the course of the academic year (from early October 2008 through Easter 2009), you and your peers will make preparations (spiritual, intellectual, and communal) for entry into the Church at Easter. These preparations we carry out among ourselves at Gonzaga University but also with those making similar preparations at St. Aloysius parish. At the Easter Vigil Mass 2009, you will be brought into the Church at St. Aloysius parish, doing so with those from St. Aloysius parish. RECEIVING THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION REGISTERING If you wish to register of the above program, then contact Sr. Laura Michels S.N.J.M. (x4241) or stop by the University Ministry office. We will be looking for your registration in the first half of September 2008, so that we can begin the programs in early October. |
