  • Borrowers are responsible for the awareness of all due dates, renewing materials before they are due, and returning materials on time.
  • Items must be returned in good condition as determined by library staff.
  • Recalled material must be returned by the recall due date.
  • Borrowers are responsible for paying fees associated with lost or damaged items checked out on their account.
  • Failure to receive or read an email courtesy notice does not relieve the borrower of the obligation to honor the due date or pay any fees incurred.
  • Distance learners are responsible for return postage costs and expected to return books by the due date.

Renewing Material

Books can be renewed via the My Account/Renew Items button on the Foley Library home page, by calling the Circulation Desk at 509-313-5803, or by emailing us at

Returning Material

All items that circulate are to be returned to the Circulation Desk or one of the book drops. Book drops are located at the front entrance of the library and in the lower level of College Hall.

Borrowed material is subject to recall after two weeks.

Library Account Access

Members of the Gonzaga Community may access their library account using the My Account/Renew Items button on the Foley Library home page. This feature allows patrons to place holds on material and view current activity on their account such as due dates, items checked out, fees owed and holds pending.

Due to our commitment to equitable access to information and student affordability, the Foley Center Library no longer collects late fees or fines for books in our general collection.
The Foley Center Library will continue assessing lost item fees to patrons for lost books and other library materials. Books are moved into lost item status when they have not been returned 28 days after the assigned due date, at which point the patron is charged the cost of the book plus a $15 processing fee. Replacement fees for other library material vary by item type; please see our Overdue and Lost Item Policy for more information.

Obtaining Borrower Cards

Guest patrons

Community members not affiliated with the University can purchase a library card at the Circulation Desk for $35. Residents of Washington State or out-of-state residents need a valid state-issued photo I.D., a current address, and a current email address. Community members under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian establish a parent/child account.

Summit visiting patrons will need to be verified by Foley Library staff, please bring a current ID (University, College, or State Issued), and credentials to login to your home library account.  Foley staff will not ask for your password, but will need visual confirmation that you logged into a current active account at your home library.

Washington Library Association

Current Washington Library Association members may request a free library card. To receive your card please show your WLA membership certificate at the Circulation Desk. WLA members receive the same loan periods as guest patrons.

University of Washington Spokane Medical School

Current University of Washington Medical School students and faculty can use their Gonzaga-issued I.D. card to check out library materials. UW students and faculty receive the same borrowing privileges as Gonzaga graduate students.
