Originally from Alaska, Julie earned her BA in Sociology from Gonzaga in 2011 and her PhD in Sociology from the University of Washington in 2017. Julie’s research focused on social determinants of health and medicalization, specifically, as it relates to stress, health behaviors, and mental health outcomes. Julie worked as a Researcher at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation in Seattle, WA, where she forecasted postsecondary education trends and intervention impacts, and currently works as a data scientist at Starbucks analyzing consumer insights.
