Instrument: Plasmatreat OPENAIR with Janome Cartesian Robot
Manufacturer: Plasmatreat
General Description: Plasmatreat Openair systems generate atmospheric pressure plasma for surface modification without vacuum chambers. Compressed air passes through electrical discharge in specialized nozzles to create ionized gas jets. The plasma chemically and physically modifies surfaces through cleaning, activation, or nanocoating processes. Unlike low-pressure plasma systems, atmospheric operation enables inline integration into production workflows. The technology removes organic contaminants, increases surface energy for improved wettability, and can apply functional nanometer-scale coatings when combined with precursor injection. Control systems monitor process parameters to ensure treatment consistency. Robot-mounted nozzles enable selective area treatment on complex geometries. The environmentally friendly process operates without solvents or harsh chemicals. Applications include adhesion improvement for bonding and coating, surface cleaning of electronics and medical devices, and pretreatment for printing and painting across plastics, metals, glass, and composite materials.
