A Time for Hope and Renewal

April 2, 2026

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’”
- John 11:25

Dear Gonzaga Community:

Today is Holy Thursday, a day that represents Jesus’ Last Supper, when He gathered with his Disciples for a sacred meal symbolic of His profound gift of sacrifice and unending love.

It also marks the start of the Holy Triduum, the three days leading to Easter Sunday. It is a time to reflect on the enduring promise of Jesus’ Resurrection and what it means for all of us: hope, renewal, and the promise of new life.

As we find ourselves in continually complex and uncertain times, being able to find light in the darkness and hope when all seems lost is what will carry us forward. This celebration of faith reminds us of our call to action to be people for and with others, always remembering that true transformation is possible. That change can emerge when we listen to, learn from, and walk with each other.

Whether you personally celebrate the Easter holiday or share in other faith traditions, this time of year is full of opportunities for hope and renewal. It is foundational to our Jesuit mission that we continue to focus on forming students who become leaders guided by their faith, ever committed to showing the world what it means to be a Zag.

As we gather in spirit this Easter weekend, may we all renew our sense of hope and purpose, ever reminded of the promise of the Resurrection made to us by God in his most Holy Son, Jesus Christ.

Happy Easter!
