On behalf of the Gonzaga University community, I invite us all to pray for the families of those nine who were killed, and those who were injured, in the Emmanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina on Wednesday night. In so doing, we join with the members of that congregation, and with all those who seek understanding, peace, and justice in the face of senseless acts of unspeakable hatred and violence such as this. Underscoring the reality of our interconnectedness, I have learned that the family of Nate Greene, Director of the Ministry Institute/Mater Dei, are members of the Emmanuel A.M.E. Church.
