The Foley Center Library collection of materials is divided up into smaller collections.
Here are the most common collection names you will find when searching for items in the library catalog.

Indexes - Indexes are located on shelves directly behind the Reference Desk on the main floor. There are a few indexes shelved with the items they index throughout the library, please ask at the Reference Desk if you need help finding these.

Oversize Materials - Oversize materials are too large to fit on the regular size shelves so they are in their own area on the first floor, east wing.

Periodicals - All of the periodicals are located in the lower level of the Foley Center.

Popular Items -  - This collection contains popular videos, CDs, New Books and a leased collection of currently popular books. There are even quite a few audio books available for check out. The items are located behind the Reference Desk o the main floor.

Reference Collection - These items do not circulate, they must stay in the Foley Center. They are located on the main floor on the short shelves located on both sides of the Reference Desk.

Reserves Collection - These items are put on reserve by professors for their classes, you can get them at the Circulation Desk on the main floor.

Special Collections - Special Collections houses many different collections including the University Archives. They are located on the third floor of the Foley Center.

STACKS is the main collection of the library. This collection is arranged by Library of Congress call numbers. These call numbers will always start with a letter. The stacks collection is divided among the top three levels of the building.

  • A - B is located on the main floor in the west wing
  • C - N is located on the second floor, east wing
  • P - Q is located on the second floor, west wing
  • R - Z is located on the third floor, west wing

Most of the material located in stacks is available for checkout.
