Kids Search Database Info
Kids Search is an EBSCOhost database that has a child-friendly interface and content directed at children. The Home button on the top tool bar takes users to the main simple search, with a blank search box and a "Search by Topic" section with bold icons. Clicking on one of the topics allows students to perform more targeted searches within individual topics.
There is also a Dictionary button, which takes users to an electronic version of the American Heritage Children's Dictionary. The Encyclopedia button allows users to search the full text of the Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia. The Images button provides a search interface for photos, maps, and flags. The Image search allows users to limit their results to the following categories: photos of people, natural science photos, photos of places, historical photos, maps, and flags.
In addition, there is also a Teacher Resources button, which allows educators to search Academic Search Premier, ERIC, and the Professional Development Collection. This section also has links to curriculum standards by state or province in the United States and Canada.
