Collection DevelopmentServices

Collection development involves the selection ofmaterials for the Foley Center Library as well as the maintenanceof the collection including weeding, replacements, and assessmentof the strengths and weaknesses of the collection. At Gonzagacollection development is a cooperative venture of the Foleyfaculty and teaching faculty with the Collection DevelopmentLibrarian overseeing policy and overall development of thecollection. Faculty work with the appropriate library subject bibliographers on collection needs and priorities.

All members of the Gonzaga community areencouraged to recommend titles for inclusion in the collection.Materials selected should reflect the curriculum and disciplinestaught at the university with primary emphasis on our undergraduatestudents. A copy of the Collection Development Policy which detailscollection history, acquisition and guidelines is available belowto download or from the Collection DevelopmentLibrarian.

Purchasing of library materials is done by theAcquisitions staff of Materials Management.
