GPA Requirement

Grade Point Average Requirement for Student Teaching

Before you can student teach, these academic requirements must be met:

The grade point average (GPA) requirements for acceptance into student teaching in the Teacher Education Program are:

  • 3.0 gpa - Major
  • 3.0 gpa - School of Education
  • 2.5 gpa - Cumulative

If your GPA is less than Gonzaga University's requirements in at least one of these areas, please submit a typewritten document containing the following information:

  1. Your name
  2. Your major
  3. Standardized Test Scores: ACT, SAT, etc.
  4. Mid-term grades for this semester - attach a copy of your mid-term grade sheet
  5. Extra-curricular activities while attending school
  6. Extenuating circumstances that caused you to receive low grades
  7. A short essay describing why you think you will be able to be successful in student teaching
  8. If your GPA in your major is below 3.0, please ask a professor in your major to write a letter supporting your acceptance into student teaching.

Forward the typewritten document and the letter from the professor to:
