Biography: Currently I teach EDTE 231: Reading, Writing, Communication I. My professional focus is in teaching K-3 literacy and Reading Recovery for Spokane Public Schools. In addition to working as an Adjunct for the University, I enjoy my role as Director of the Saturday Literacy Tutoring Program here on campus. I am fortunate to be married to the most wonderful woman and have two incredible boys. When we steal some time together, we enjoy outings to the symphony and rooting on the Zags.
Philip Angus Nunes
Education: Master of Education from Lesley University 2002. Bachelor of Arts Education: Music from Eastern Washington University 1997, with endorsements from the State of Washington in K-12 Music; K-12 Choral Music; K-12 Instrumental Music; K-12 Spanish.
Biography: I began teaching Elemental Music in Spokane Public Schools in the fall of 1997 at Linwood Elementary School on Spokane’s north side. There I taught elemental music to students ranging in age from kindergarten through sixth grade, band and orchestra classes to fifth and sixth graders, and zero hour open chorus to fourth, fifth and sixth graders. In 2003 I changed my assignment and began teaching fifth and sixth grade orchestra classes at eight Spokane Public Schools on Spokane’s South Hill. Currently I teach fifth and sixth grade orchestra classes at Hutton, Jefferson, Lincoln Heights, Moran Prairie, Mullan Road, Roosevelt, Sheridan and Wilson Elementary Schools. I play the double bass in the bass sections of the Gonzaga University Orchestra and the Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra. I’ve been teaching the Elementary Methods: Music class in the School of Education at Gonzaga University since the fall of 2005.
