B.Ed. In Physical Education

The Bachelors of Education in Physical Education program prepares students to pursue careers and/or graduate studies in physical education (pedagogy or administration).  Teacher certification in physical education (health and fitness) K-12 is available to physical education majors who fulfill the certification requirements in addition to the teaching requirements for the B.Ed. in Physical Education.

A minor in physical education in also available, as is a health and fitness endorsement for those students whose primary area of teaching certification lies in an area other than physical education.

* (EXSC 374 & 374L Kinesiology and EXSC 376 & 376L Physiology of Exercise may be taken instead of EDPE 377 & 377L)

A student wishing to pursue teaching certification must also complete the following:

• EDTE 101/101L   --   3 credits
• EDTE 201   --   3 credits
• EDTE 241   --   3 credits
• EDTE 418   --   3 credits
• EDPE 417   --   1 credit
• EDPE 495   --   12 credits

A minor in physical education will not provide an individual certification for teaching.

Health and Fitness Teaching Endorsement: 43 Credits

This option is designed for students pursuing teaching certification in another discipline (English, Science, Music) and want to add a Health and Fitness endorsement.
